Mike was born in Fairmont, NC on June 17, 1942 to Lillie Mae Inman Williams and Irven F. Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Buck Williams, Jimmy Williams and Bobby Williams. He is survived by his brother Tommy Williams, his daughter Wendy Williams, his sons Michael Williams (Shara) and Robert Williams (Meredith) as well as nine grandchildren: Michael(Brianna), Cody(Brittany), Shelby (Jonathon), Morgan, Matthew, Brady, James, Nicholas and Claire, and six great grandchildren.
Mike’s family moved to Carolina Beach when he was a child. He grew up on the beach and always considered himself a Carolina Beach kid. He graduated from New Hanover High School where he sang baritone in the choir and joined the ROTC. After high school, he worked in the meat department at the A & P supermarket, and he joined the Army Reserves. Later, he accepted a position at General Electric and retired from the Aircraft Engines division of GE. Mike was also a volunteer fireman with the Myrtle Grove Fire Department for many years.
Mike was an avid fisherman and loved spending time on his boat. He loved the water, nature and being outdoors; but what he loved the most was spending time with his family. His favorite pastime was family cookouts, and he thoroughly enjoyed the children.
Mike was stubborn but gentle. He was fiercely loyal and dependable. He showed his love through acts of service, and could often be found at the homes of family, friends and neighbors helping with yard work or tinkering with projects. He had a good heart and his own brand of humor. He coined many phrases in his time that will endure long after he is gone. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him.
Rest in peace, Daddy. Rest in peace, Papa.
