

Myron Eugene "Jake" Jacobson, 76, of Wilmington, NC, passed away at his residence on Monday, November 3, 2014, of lung cancer. He was born in Burbank, SD on January 28, 1938, son of the late Martin and Pearl Peterson Jacobson. "Captain Jake" as he was known, was a long-time commercial fisherman in Southport, and the owner and operator of charter and commercial boats, the "Idle On" and later the "Movin On." He was a veteran of the United States Army. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Sandra Walsh Jacobson; sons, Curtis Jacobson (Jill Caldwell) of Wilmington; and Randy Jacobson (Kelly Futrell) of Hampstead; grandchildren, Ryan, Kerry, Casey, and Cody Jacobson; step-grandchildren, Tiffany Maultsby, Brandon Maultsby, and Chad Babson; and two sisters, Denise Galloway and LaDonna Gill. A brother, Duane Jacobson and a sister, Verlan Lorzen preceded him in death. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington. The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington, NC.
