PATRICIA ELLEN MERRIFIELD BARKER Devoted wife and mother, Patricia Ellen Merrifield Barker, 62, of Wilmington, NC died Tuesday March 25 at her home. She thoroughly enjoyed her work at The University of North Carolina at Wilmington as an administrative assistant in the auxiliary services department where she worked for 18 years after moving to Wilmington with her family from Ohio where she had lived for nearly 20 years. Patricia was born in Fairmont, WV Nov. 11, 1945 at Fairmont General Hospital where her mother worked as a nurse. She was a 1963 graduate of Weston High School in Weston, WV and attended Mountain State Business College in Parkersburg, WVa. Patricia also was member of United Methodist Church in Weston. Patricia attended services at Pine Valley United Methodist church in Wilmington. She was preceded in death by her father Eldon R. Merrifield and mother Emily Agnes Riggs Merrifield. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years Kenneth Harris Barker; her son Christopher Barker and wife Lisha, of Roanoke, Va; son Eric Barker and wife Tammi of Mogadore, Ohio; a daughter Briana Barker of Stow, Ohio; two grandchildren Ashley and Andrew Barker; and a sister Jane Emily Merrifield Holbert of Bridgeport, WV; an uncle Philip Riggs and wife Marge of Buckhannon, WV; and a cousin Bobbie Taylor of Elkview, WV. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Rd., Wilmington, NC.
