Patricia "Pattie" Smith Barker of Wilmington, NC passed away on Sunday, February 24 at Woodbury Wellness Center in Hampstead after a brave battle with breast cancer. She was born March 14, 1940 in Alma, Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan and loved her Wolverines. She was a proud grandmother, beloved mother and loyal friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred Krohne Smith and Charles Carney Smith. She is survived by her son Michael S. Barker and wife Tami of Denver, NC and her daughter Susan M. Barker and fiance' Patrick Davis of Wilmington; brother Clark Smith and wife Terry of Durham, NC; granddaughters Morgan & Madison Barker of Denver, NC. Patti loved spending her summers on Magician Lake in Dowagiac Michigan surrounded by her many cousins and family. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends, Wednesday nights with the "Margherita Girls" and crossword puzzles. A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life at 11:00am, Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made in Pattie's honor to the American Cancer Society.
