
Paul Myers Snell, Jr., age 85, died Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center. He was born on February 14, 1925, in Southport, North Carolina, son of Annie Elizabeth St.George Snell Sug and Paul Myers Snell Pappy. He graduated in 1943 from New Hanover High School, and was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre. In 1949, he graduated from The Citadel with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was the owner of Snell Engineering and Construction Company in Fayetteville until his retirement. He was a resident of Fayetteville for 60 years where he was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church, Highland Country Club, and served on the board of The Salvation Army. He is survived by his daughters, Catharine St.George Snell Robbins of Raleigh and Eleanor Myers Snell Johnston and husband, Steve, of Wilmington, grandson, Paul Lee Robbins of Raleigh, sister-in-law, Mary Devane Snell Pinky of Chevy Chase, MD, brother-in-law, William Henry Skeels of Burlington, five nieces, two nephews, six great-nieces, seven great-nephews, and many cousins including William Ross St.George of Wilmington. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eleanor Skeels Snell, and his brother, Thomas Mason Snell Tommy. Graveside service will be Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Cross Creek Cemetery, Fayetteville, North Carolina. Family members will remain at the grave following the service to visit with friends.
