Paul McClenon Stevens, 80, of Wilmington, passed away after a lengthy illness on March 7, 2016 at his residence with his wife, Beth Stevens by his side. Paul loved the Lord and during his illness his Faith in his Lord never wavered.
Paul was born on September 6, 1935 in Conway, SC to James McClenon Stevens and Bertha Cannon Stevens Martz.
Paul worked for Babcock and Wilcox at Wilmington, NC and Paris, TX for 33+ years. He worked many years as a Shop Superintendent in Wilmington and retired as Tooling Manager/Engineer of the Paris Plant.
He was a member of Ogden Baptist Church since 1960 and currently a member of Winter Park Baptist Church.
Paul was very active in his community. He was awarded Jaycee of the Year twice and served as a member and past president of the Local Ogden Jaycee chapter. He was a member, past president and Optimist of the Year of the local Supper Optimist Club. He served as a member and past president of the local Chapter of the International Management Club. Paul was founder and past chairman of Boy Scout Troop 237 in Ogden. He was also past Chairman and very active in the Ogden Little League Baseball program for several years.
In addition to his wife, Beth, he is survived by his son Paul McClenon Stevens Jr. and wife Connie of Charlotte, NC; 3 Grandchildren, Paul McClenon Stevens III (Clent) and wife Jessica of New London, April Ann Stevens and fiancée, Travis of Raleigh and Mark Alexander Stevens of Charlotte. Paul also has 5 great grandchildren, Arlee, Noah, Emerson, Harper and Judson. Besides the Lord, Pauls’ family brought him great joy.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 10 followed by the service at 2 pm at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
