

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Maurice Cleveland Robbins and a very special uncle John Dewey "J.D." Hufham.
Alex graduate from New Hanover High School in 1950 and attended Wilmington College from 1950 to 1952. He was elected freshman class president and editor of the School newspaper (Seahawk), he also played basketball for Coach Bill Brooks. He attended the University of South Carolina from 1956 thru 1958. He received a BS degree in banking and finance. Alex enlisted in the Air Force from 1952 thru 1956 and served as an Air Evac medic in Korea. He became employed with Hercules Inc. when the plant was built and functioned as the Human Resources Supervisor. He was very active at Winter Park Baptist Church, Wilmington, NC. Alex served as deacon, was on the personnel and teller committees, and initiated Homebound Communion with sick visitations, Outreach Leader in his Sunday School Class. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed such games as golf where he made a “hole in one” while playing with his foursome which included Mark Teachy his senior Adult Pastor. He also played against the “King and His Court” in fast-pitch softball while stationed in Tachikawa, Japan.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Hailey Robbins of 64 years, son Scott Alexander Robbins, sister Patricia Robbins Vass and husband Karl “Doug” Vass, sister-n-law Brenda J. Robbins, and many nieces and nephews; a very special cousin Johnny Hufham and wife Nancy Hughes Hufham.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am on May 9, 2022 at Winter Park Baptist Church, 4700 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington, NC with Pastor Mike Womble officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations made be made to Winter Park Baptist Church, 4700 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28403.
