Rebecca B. Newton

Rebecca Newton of Wilmington, NC passed away on September 28, 2012 at the age of 92. Becky was the devoted wife of the late James Newton, beloved mother of John Newton and Marsha Newton-Golombik, sister of Haywood Bellamy, Sarah Cook, and Margaret Barbour, and grandmother of her special pride and joy Alyssa Golombik. Becky was the light of our lives, and she brought joy and happiness into the lives of everyone she knew. Whether she was cooking for her family, minding one of the neighborhood kids, or just feeding another stray cat in her backyard, she spent much of her life caring for those around her. Her smile, her warmth, and her compassion touched friends and family alike. We are all blessed to have been welcomed into her life, and she will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives she touched.

A celebration of Becky’s life will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 4 PM at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401, 910-796-7900.
