
Ricky Scott Clay, Aged 61, died December 20, 2018 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after a long illness. He was born in Lebanon, PA, on January 2, 1957, but resided in Rocky Point, NC for the past four years. Mr. Clay entered military service in the United States Navy shortly after graduating from high school, and served a long and distinguished career of well over 20 years, eventually retiring as a Petty Officer, 1st Class. After retirement, he worked for a period of time for the federal government in the Intelligence field.
Ricky is the son of Nancy L. (Abel) Clay Winklebleck, and the late Ralph H. Clay, Sr. He is survived by Ralph H. Clay, Jr. and wife Teri of Lebanon, PA; Jody L. (Clay) Evans and husband Edward of Lebanon, PA; Larry F. Clay of Annville, PA; Don L. Winklebleck and wife Tabetha of Lebanon, PA; and Daryl L. Winklebleck and wife Kathy of Lebanon, PA, along with several nieces and nephews. Ricky is preceded in death by his step-father, Donald H. Winklebleck, who was his inspiration for entering military service in the United States Navy.
A memorial service is planned to honor Ricky's life at his place of worship, Grace United Methodist Church, 401 Grace Street, Wilmington, NC 28401, on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. A reception with light refreshments will be provided after the service.
In accordance with Ricky's final wishes, he will be transported back home to Lebanon, PA for a memorial service with friends and family members. Interment will be at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA with full military honors.
As Ricky was a staunch advocate for the proper treatment of fellow veterans, it is requested that donations be made in memory of Ricky Scott Clay to the Wounded Warriors Network, in lieu of flowers.
