Ricky Darrell Lucas

     Ricky Darrell Lucas went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the age of 74. His battle with health issues in recent years showed his fortitude and strength. He remained a loving husband, father, and grandfather till the end never failing to be there for those he cherished most in life, his family.

     Ricky was born on August 27, 1947. His life was built around the values of hard work, love, and generosity. While he was not afraid of tough love, he was a kind soul who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He loved fishing, fixing things, and golfing. He was a handy man who loved to put this talent to use in the service of others.

Ricky married his wife Cynthia Ann Hardee Lucas on January 16, 1971, and from then on, he could be found right by her side. He often sat on the porch with her holding her hand. He leaves behind the memories of a husband who cherished his wife. He lived as an example for his children and grandchildren of what true love should look like. His legacy is in the family values and love he instilled in those around him. This legacy will continue to live on in those who will dearly miss him and be instilled in future generations.

     Ricky is survived by his wife Cynthia Ann Hardee Lucas; his children: daughter Cheryl Leigh Lucas Richard, son Ricky Darrell Lucas II, son-in-law Steven Lawrence Richard and daughter-in-law Amber Singleton; his grandsons: Alexander Gabriel Balusek, Christian Riley Balusek, Bryan Michael Richard, and Tyler Steven Richard; and granddaughter Serenity Hope Lucas. Ricky was proceeded in death by his father, Jesse Lee Lucas; his mother, Dora Odessa Bristow Lucas; and his siblings: sister’s Lela Mae Lucas Harper and Janet Lee Lucas Barnes; and brother Terry Lynn Lucas Sr.

     We know he was greeted in Heaven by people he loves and who love him just as much as we do. It is never goodbye, but we will miss him everyday until we meet again. 

     Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Andrews Mortuary – Hampstead Chapel, 17730 Highway 17 North, Hampstead, NC 28443, where friends may call from 1:00 PM until time of services.
