Robert "Bob" L. Shields

Bob Shields passed away Friday, September 4, 2015. Bob was born August 1, 1946 in Wilmington, son of the late Louis and Martha Shields. He is predeceased by twin brother William, his parents and nephew-in-law Lee Galloway. He is survived by his brother Vance Shields (Linda), nieces Elizabeth Galloway and Sara Selander (Craig), nephew Preston Shields (Rachel), great niece Gracyn Galloway and great nephews Hudson Galloway, Bird Shields and Craton Selander. Bob attended grade schools in Jacksonville NC and Hargrave Military Academy in VA. He graduated from Jacksonville Senior High School and Appalachian State University. He was a member of American Legion Post 10 and employed by Johnson Drug and Home Medical. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with his friends on the many beautiful courses in southeastern NC. Memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice or the Shields-Sparkman Medical Allied Health Scholarship of Coastal Carolina Community College Jacksonville NC. Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel on College Road is serving the family. Services will be Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11AM at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel on College Road with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park in Jacksonville NC at 2PM.
