Ronnie Hughlon Shepard of Wilmington, NC, passed away at home on Saturday, August 5, 2023. Ronnie was born March 14, 1947, in Jacksonville, NC, a son of the late Willard and Eunice Shepard. He is survived by his wife, Kim Shepard, a daughter, Nichole Navarra, and son-in-law, Robert Navarra; brothers Keith Shepard of Georgia and Wallace Shepard of Minnesota.
Ronnie served in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam conflict. He was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action, and the Purple Heart, among other decorations. He worked as a Contracting Officer for the Department of Defense for many years before retiring in 2007. After retiring, he enjoyed his favorite past times of shooting, hunting, fishing, and spending time with close friends.
Graveside and internment services with military honors will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at 10:00AM on October 18, 2023.
