She is pre-deceased by her husband of 62 years, John Q. Russell, Jr. along with four sisters and two brothers.
Ruth is survived by two children, Robert Dale Russell (Betty) and Sandra Kay Gathercole (Jerry); two grandchildren, Jon Toney and Ashley Clemmer and two great-grandchildren, Madi Toney and Gia Clemmer.
Ruth was a member of Pine Valley Baptist Church. Her strong faith in God was at the center of everything she did. It also sustained her in these last difficult years. Thanks to family and friends who went by to visit and spend time with her while she was fighting the Alzheimer’s. Also a special thanks to the special caregivers who took care of her, comforted her and brought loving assurance to her.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, July 12, at Andrews Valley Chapel. The family will receive visitors one hour prior. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
