Sam lived a life full of energy, purpose, and dedication. From an early age, he found his passion in football, playing for his high school team and earning a full scholarship to Appalachian State University. He graduated as a student-athlete with a degree in mechanical engineering, a foundation that led to a successful 30-year career in the commercial HVAC industry. Throughout his career, he excelled through the ranks and ultimately served as a respected project manager in the Wilmington area.
Sam had many interests that brought him great joy. He was an avid sports fan—especially devoted to March Madness—a talented guitar player, and a classic car enthusiast who took pride in working on his first car, a 1965 Mustang. In his later years, he volunteered his time at local food banks, sharing his kindness, compassion, and unwavering willingness to help others.
Known for his generosity and dependable spirit, Sam was the type of colleague and friend who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. His character and warmth touched the lives of many.
Sam is survived by his two sons, Sam Killman V, 37, and Jay Killman, 34.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
