Shirley Ann Hobbs Buie

SHIRLEY ANN HOBBS BUIE It is with great regret to announce the passing of Shirley Ann Hobbs Buie, age 67 on August 17, 2010 at the Hospice Care Center after a long battle with Alzheimers. Shirley was born in Wilmington on October 13, 1942. Remembered are her father, Jesse Hobbs, her mother Ruth Mercer, and brother, Jack Hobbs who preceded her in death. Shirley was a 1985 graduate of Duke University, where she registered as an Electrophysiological Technologist/Polysomnographic Technologist since 1991. She worked at New Hanover Hospital for more than 20 years with a specialty in sleep studies. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of over 50 years, Kenneth Ray Buie, Sr., and her three children, Kenny and wife Sentrie Buie, Dee Dee and husband Barry Cooper, Tim and wife Rita Buie, as well as a daughter-in-law Mena Buie. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many loving extended family members. Shirley was dedicated to her family and all those that knew and loved her. She will be truly missed but not forgotten! The family would like to express gratitude to the wonderful staff at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Life Care Center. In her memory, contributions can be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Life Care Center, 1406 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401. Visitation for family and friends will be 9 to 11 am Friday, August 20, 2010 at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Road with funeral services at 11 am. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
