Stephanie Gail Griffin Kennedy

Stephanie Gail Griffin Kennedy, 28, of Wilmington, NC, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at her residence. Stephanie was born on July 18, 1979 in Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, NC, the daughter of Steve and JoAnn Griffin of Wilmington. Surviving in addition to her parents is her husband, Brandon Thomas Kennedy, US Army, stationed in Camp Speicher, Iraq. One brother, Michael Griffin of Wilmington; maternal grandfather, D.C. Metheny of Richmond, VA; paternal grandmother, Susie Griffin of Swansboro, NC; aunt Gail Griffin; uncle Pat and aunt Nancy Metheny; cousin, Brandon Metheny of Norfolk VA, cousin Kim Sanders and husband John, cousins Justin, Katlyn and Emily Sanders of Mechanicsville, MD. Her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kim and Jeff Quarles; sister-in-law, Jessica; brothers-in-law, Brent and Jeremy; grandmothers-in-law, Nancy and Ruth of Lynchburg VA. Remembered is her maternal grandmother, Joan Marie Metheny who preceded her in death. She also leaves behind her other love ""Gidget"", her rescue dog, and her new family puppy, Taylor Kennedy. Stephanie attended St. Mary Elementary School and was a 1997 graduate of New Hanover High School. She was a 2008 graduate of the R.N. Nursing Program at Cape Fear Community College. Next to her wedding day graduating from nursing school was the proudest day of her life. She was an employee at New Hanover Medical Center, Wilmington, NC. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at St. Mary Catholic Church , 412 Ann Street, Wilmington, NC, 28401, the service will be celebrated by Rev. Bob Kus. Interment will follow at Onslow Memorial Park in Jacksonville, NC, at 2:00 pm Tuesday. The family will receive friends and family from 10:00 – 10:45 am prior to the service.
