

Gertrude Theresa ""Jerry"" Foy Hall, 94, of Wilmington, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2011 at home. Theresa was born August 16, 1916, at Poplar Grove Plantation in Pender County. She graduated from Greensboro College in 1937 and worked as a school teacher at Hallsboro Elementary and Hallsboro Artesia in Columbus County for 15 years. She was a member of Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church in Scotts Hill and formerly a member of Whiteville First Baptist Church and Temple Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC. She was also a member of Town & Country Garden Club and Whiteville Women's Club. She was very active in family and church activities. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Foy, Sr. and Elizabeth Dozier Abbey Foy; husband, Roscoe Forest Hall, Jr.; sister, Abbey Foy Brunjes Anger and daughter-in-law, Martha Jo Hall. She is survived by four children, R. Forest Hall III of Shallotte, NC, Jerry Wray Hall of Wilmington, NC, Theresa Hall Formyduval of Hallsboro, NC and Abbey Hall Beattie of Wilmington, NC; eight grandchildren, R. Forest Hall IV and Wife Carol of Whiteville, NC, Dr. Dan Hall of Tampa, FL, Marty Hall Ezzell and husband Melvin of Whiteville, NC, Pamela Formyduval of Raleigh, NC, Jennifer Formyduval Tripp and husband Rob of Graham, NC, Christopher Formyduval of Myrtle Beach, SC, Katherine Williamson Hyatt and husband Scott of Lake Waccamaw, NC and Andrew Williamson of Wilmington, NC; nine great grandchildren, Philip Hall of Whiteville, NC, Anna and Will Ezzell of Whiteville, NC, Danielle and Justin Hall of Miami, FL, Stephen Piner of Whiteville, NC and Stephanie Piner of Wilmington, NC and Katelyn and Creek Hyatt of Lake Waccamaw, NC; brother, Robert Lee Foy, Jr. of Scotts Hill, NC; sister, Mary Frances Foy Sanders and husband Robert of Scotts Hill, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11am, Monday, February 14, 2011, at Wesleyan Chapel UMC, in Scotts Hill. There will be a reception following the service, at the church, in Lee Hall. A graveside service will take place at 2:30pm, Monday, February 14, 2011, at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wesleyan Chapel UMC, Lower Cape Fear Hospice or the charity of your choice.
