Thomas M. Hunter

Born on March 25, 1954, Tom was the son of Thomas M. Hunter, Sr. and Annie Hyman Bunn Hunter of Henderson, NC.   He is survived by his wife, Alicia S. Hunter of Wilmington, sisters Nancy Hunter of Carolina Beach and Mary Hunter Judge (Curt) of McGaheysville, VA, nephews Curtis Judge (Jenni), David Judge (Elizabeth), 5 great-nieces and nephews and multiple cousins.

Tom graduated from North Carolina State University in 1976; did additional architectural studies at UNC-Charlotte and obtained both his Professional Engineer’s and Registered Architect’s licenses.  He enjoyed his work in both fields in the private sector as well as working for the NCSU Architect’s Office and the North Carolina Community College System. A lifelong “Wolfpacker”, Tom thoroughly enjoyed time spent in tailgating with special friends and cheering on his team in any of their sports.

He spent the last few years in happy retirement, indulging in his love of good books and music, particularly Jazz and Blues.

The family would like to express their gratitude to wonderful friends, neighbors and colleagues who enriched Tom’s life; they and the amazing medical teams from the Novant and UNC Health Systems also provided strength and support during his medical challenges.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for family and friends at a future date.
