Thyra Lucas Brown

Thyra Topping ?Cutie? Lucas Brown, 96, a resident of the Commons at Brightmore, died Saturday, January 29, 2011 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was born in Pender County, NC on July 15, 1914 the daughter of the late Jesse Fredrick and Carrie Nixon Sparkman Lucas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pleasant Luther Brown, Sr. Surviving are her four children, P. Luther Brown, Jr. and wife Nancy, Priscilla B. Willard and husband Henry, Thyra ?Toppy? B. Sayre and husband Jim, all of Wilmington, NC, and Betty B. Hardee and husband Matt of Elizabethtown, NC; ten grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2011 at the home of Mr. And Mrs. Luther Brown. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Black River Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Ivanhoe, NC. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the caregivers of the Kempton and The Commons at Brightmore, and the Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to The Salvation Army, 223 S.
