Velma Parker Belon

She was born on December 9, 1941, to the parents Ella and Jno. S. Parker and was the wife of the late Roy Chester Belon faithfully for forty-eight years.

Velma retired from Bank of America as a banker after twenty-five years of service. She served faithfully as an associate pastor with her husband, Pastor Roy Belon at Palmer Memorial Church in Durham, NC, for twenty-five years.

Velma left a legacy of faith to countless souls she pastored and mentored in their walk with Jesus. She led many Bible Studies in her house to UNC Chapel Hill students. Also, she had many spiritual children she loved dearly all over America.

Velma Belon leaves her legacy of the love of ministry and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to her daughter in the Lord, Jennifer Kostyal. She was a founding Board Member of Transformed by The Word Ministries. Velma loved her family passionately and her love was shown deeply to Jennifer, son-in-law, David, and her grandchildren, David II and Rebekah.

A funeral service will be held at 3:30 Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Andrew Mortuary Market Street Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 3:00 pm. Velma will be buried beside her husband at Markham Memorial Gardens in a private committal.
