
Walter Theodore ""Ted"" Anderson, 58, of Wilmington, NC, surrounded by friends and family passed away peacefully Sunday, January 11, 2009 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Ted was preceded in death by his mother, Margo R. Anderson and mother in law Katherine G. Rogers. Ted was born in Newton, Massachusetts on June 20, 1950. Although he was a born of Red Sox blood, he was truly a southern gentleman. Ted is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Katherine ""Scottie"" Anderson and their children Kate A. Finch and husband Robert, of Greensboro, NC, Erin E. Anderson of Raleigh, NC and Wilson T. Anderson of Wilmington, NC; his father Walter ""Walt"" Anderson Jr. and Joy Anderson of Rocky Mount, NC; sister Carol Welch and husband Kevin, of Knightdale, NC and brothers Steve and Scott Anderson of Raleigh, NC; his father in law Luther T. ""Buddy"" Rogers Jr. and his dear friend and brother in law Luther T. ""Tommy"" Rogers III, wife Tammy and precious nephews Turner and Noah all of Wilmington, NC; sister in law Besty E. Rogers of Wilmington, NC and special cousin Edward N. O'Quinn Jr. of Wrightsville Beach, NC. An avid outdoorsman, Ted spent the happiest of times enjoying nature with his friends and family. Ted's family was his life and he enjoyed teaching his children and wife to snow ski, fly fish, and the art of camping. Ted loved to spend time down on the Cape Fear River at Gardner Woods canoeing and fishing. Ted loved working in the Engineering Department for the City of Wilmington and was a long time member of the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk. Ted battled bravely for over two and a half years against pancreatic cancer. Never giving up hope, Ted fought the cancer with immeasurable amounts of strength, grace and determination. Although the cancer physically weakened his body Ted's spirit and sense of humor remained as big as his loving heart. A man who was good to the core, Ted will be missed by his friends and especially his family. A memorial service will be held 2pm Thursday January 15, 2009 at The Little Chapel on the Boardwalk. The family will receive friends from 7pm to 8pm Wednesday January 14, 2009 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.
