

Elliott was born in Wilmington to the late Walter Edward Cooper and Rosa Harker Cooper.
He was a watchmaker and jeweler in Wilmington having worked with Belk’s, Kingoffs Jewelers, Mills Jewelers, Berman’s Jewelers, and Reeds Jewelers over his 50 + career span. One of his trademarks was his ability to hand engrave, which is a lost art today. He enjoyed painting and was a landscape artist. He also enjoyed woodworking, being a handmade furniture craftsman, and built a 26 foot sailboat when he was in his early forties that his family enjoyed for years.
Along with his parents, Elliott was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Thompson Cooper.
He is survived by two sisters, Ida Hope Cooper and Ann Cooper Johnson (Gene); one brother, Charles A. Cooper; three step daughters, Pat Harker (Albert), Linda Ramsey (Roger), and Judy Williams (Bob); three nieces, Judy Prince, Gay Johnson and Kathleen Berner; three nephews, Howard Lee Johnson, Richard Charles Cooper and Gary Cooper; seven grandchildren, Teena McMahon (Ed), Jody Harker, Kevin Harker (Mary Beth), Frances Mathisen (Eric), Kim Turner , Shanda Bordeaux (Rusty) and Reagan Deans (Wayne); along with multiple great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 15 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Herchenhahn officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.
