Walter Wendell Carney

Wendell is survived by his wife Brenda Carney, his two daughters, Lisa Doherty and Linda Carney, his grand-daughter Emma Coward, his four step-children Tommy Batson, David Batson, William Batson, and Susan Carter of Wake Forest, Wilmington and Charlotte, NC respectively. He is preceded in death by his aunt Patricia Filippini, of Wilmington, NC.

Wendell was born on June 22, 1939 in Wilmington, NC to Walter Carney and Flossie C. Carney. He graduated from University of South Carolina in 1963 with a degree in Geology.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel, with Dr. John Cromer officiating. Everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate Wendell’s life.

Flowers may be sent to Andrews Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28401, or, in lieu of flowers, contributions in Wendell’s memory may be made to the New Hanover County Library.
