William "Bill" D. Chapman

Bill was a teacher and school administrator in New Hanover County for decades. He worked at several schools but spent most of his career as assistant principal and later principal at Myrtle Grove Middle School. His family and friends will remember his wit, his charm, and passion for learning. He pursued an EdD after retirement and continued to work with students. He was one of the founding fathers of Delta Upsilon fraternity at UNCW. He loved music, action movies, history, and being the life of the party.

He is survived by his wife MaryAnn Horne Chapman, daughter Jessica Chapman and her husband Brian Faucette (of Hudson, NC), son William J. (Bill) Chapman and his wife Alyssa Chapman (of Hampstead), granddaughter Vera Lynn Chapman, sister Patricia Barnhart and husband Neil (of Tampa, FL) and sister Barbara Chapman (of St. Louis, MO).

A visitation will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. A memorial service will follow immediately after starting at 12:00 pm. David Butler will officiate.
