William Milton Bracey, Sr.

He was born in Robeson County, NC, on October 3, 1930, son of the late W.A. Bracey and Willie Spivey Bracey.

Mr. Bracey retired from Riegel / Federal Paper Company in 1993 after forty years of faithful service with the company. Prior to working there, he had been employed with the Atlantic Coastline Railroad.  He was a charter member of Wesleyan Methodist Church in Riegelwood and was a member of Waccamaw Masonic Lodge #596.  He had served in the National Guard.   Also known as “Mr. Fix It”, he could repair most anything that came his way. He loved baseball and coached in the Riegelwood Dixie Youth Baseball program.  He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed his annual fishing trips with his family, loved to play golf and was a member of the Riegelwood Country Club.

A family man most importantly, he was “Papa” to so many, a great father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a most wonderful husband.

Mr. Bracey is survived by his wife, Linda Roberts Bracey, sons, Billy Bracey and wife, Katie of Burgaw, Freddy Bracey and wife Debbie of Delco, Mike Bracey and wife Paula of Delco, and Karl Bracey and wife Suzanne of Lake Waccamaw; daughters, Daphne Hayes of Jacksonville, FL, and Norma Briggs of Murrells Inlet, SC; nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel, a daughter, Suzanne Hayes, four brothers, and three sisters.  His family also wishes to thank and acknowledge the special friendship of Chief Steve Camlin of ADR Fire and Rescue.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington, NC. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 10, 2018, also at the mortuary chapel, with the Rev. John Bracey, Jr. officiating.  Masonic Rites will be accorded by Waccamaw Masonic Lodge #596 of Riegelwood.  Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, NC.
