

He was born in Ash, NC on November 17, 1933 to the late Jim and Leila Carlyle.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a faithful member of Spring View PFWB Church, a great prayer warrior and witness. He loved his family and led by example and was a hard worker. He retired from Federal Paper Company in 1990. He enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening and traveling.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings.
“Bill” is survived by his wife, Delphia (Dot) Carlyle of 59 1/2 years; son, Rev. Bill Carlyle and his wife Carolyn Carlyle of Wilson, NC; daughter, Carol McLaurin and her husband Rev. Tommy McLaurin of Tulsa, OK; He was ”Papa” to his grandchildren: April Dies (Nathan), Jessica (Angelica) Guillemett (Adam), Courtney McLaurin, Michael Carlyle and 2 great grandchildren, Hannah and Emma Cate as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Services, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Spring View PFWB Church, 801 N. College Road, Wilmington, NC 28405 with Rev. Billy Carlyle and Rev. Tommy McLaurin officiating.
Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, NC 28409 with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
