Mr. Billy Ray Puckett

Wilson: Billy Ray Puckett, age 85, of Wilson passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. He was the son of the late Y.Z. Puckett and Egarah Murphy Puckett and was also predeceased by his son, Clifford Ray Puckett, two sisters, Carolyn Justice and husband Donald and Sandra Greeson.

Billy Ray was the Plant Manager at Dolco Packaging in Gwinnett Co., Ga until 1984 and moved to Wilson, NC to be Plant Manager for Linpac Plastics until his retirement. He loved camping and fishing, Bluegrass and Southern Gospel music and loved his family.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 69 years, Omie Lee Jackson Puckett, four daughters, Faye Barnes and husband Dwight of Commerce, GA, Peggy Barnes and husband Brad of Jefferson, GA, Vanessa Williams of Wilson and Janet Tedder and husband Chris of Kenly, three brothers, L.P. Puckett and wife Mildred, Donald Puckett and wife Laura and Ricky Puckett all of Gwinnett, GA, a brother-in-law Gene Greeson of Gwinnett Co, GA, eleven grandchildren, Cindy Barnes, Tommy Barnes, Kenneth Barnes, Sabrina Barnes, Monica Clark, Van Williams, Loghan Williams, Christopher Tedder, Brandon Tedder, M.D. and Preston Tedder, 16 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday June 8, 2023 at 2 PM at Thomas – Yelverton Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Gabbard officiating. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Thomas – Yelverton Funeral Home.
