Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 63 years, Marie Lucas; his daughter, Deborah Ballance and husband Gerald Ballance; granddaughter Ann Marie McPherson, her husband Chris and their daughter Dorothy; Bryant Ballance; brother Joe Bailey, his wife Debbie and their family; his aunt, Marjorie Scott, along with many other beloved friends and family.
He worked for Stephenson Millwork for over 40 years before retiring. He was a member of Unity Free Will Baptist Church where he served as usher and deacon. He enjoyed exercise, spending time working in the yard or tending to the garden with his wife as well as frequent walks to visit the neighbors. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his special aunt and uncle, Minnie Mae and Carl Scott; and uncle AJ Scott.
A visitation will be held at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home in Wilson, NC on Friday, May 30 from 6-8 PM. Followed by a graveside service on Saturday, May 31 at 3 PM in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Wilson, NC.
