LaForest was my church member and one time my Elementary School Principal. She was a kind and giving person. I was a part-time Librarian at Idlewild Elementary while she was principal. She is surely missed.

La Forest Williams, I have nothing but great memories of La Forest Williams.  When I first meet her and sat with her I was in such Aww ☺️.  She was very nice and was full of a wealth of knowledge.  I would just sit and listen to all she would share.  I also noticed how stylish she was and so well put together.  This was a great person and I feel so blessed that my life was touched by her.  She will surely be missed.  I love and 😘.

You told us to remember you as we please.  Thank you for the memories and for showing that one can truly make a difference in the lives of others.
Your generous charitable contributions to so many organizations and agencies are known by so few.  You had a knack for remembering birthdays, holidays and special occasions.  The postage from all the packages sent as gifts and then the gifts themselves served to brighten ones spirit.  No one could count the number of meals you prepared and delivered for many years.  From your early days at Calvary Presbyterian Church to serving Memorial Presbyterian Church, you tirelessly worked in God's vineyard.  We already miss your thoughtful guidance and the willingness to carve paths and change lives while serving as an educator, friend and neighbor.
You indeed where a model of someone with a "Servant's Heart."  May we use what we learned from you to do our part in this world.
We know that would make you as proud of us as we are of you.

Ms. Williams was a principal friend of my mother, Mrs. Bernice S. Ferguson.  To me, she was in that special category of proud Charlotte Mecklenburg African- American educators.  The educators who helped you achieve your best at all times.    The educators of the seventies, eighties and nineties who corrected your speech with a sweet smile.  The special educators who asked," How are your classes going?' " What colleges are you looking into?"  Ms. Williams presence will be remembered warmly.


LaForest and I grew up together on Elvie St in Wilson.  I have not seen her for decades , but have fond memories from us along with other kids in the old neighborhood playing childhood games in the summer.

LaForest was the principal when I taught at Idlewild in the 80’s. She was always a gentle lion in her leadership approach.  Always speaking softly but the message was delivered with a no nonsense  intent. She would most often wear her hair pulled back in a bun and usually would have a shawl around her shoulders if the weather was cool. I remember her with that look as she leisurely walked behind a little boy who was running through the school just because he could!😂 She would say as she strolled, “Chile I am not running after no one!” She was not only a great principal but a kind human being! Rest In Peace Laforest!

LaForest was my principal at Idlewild Elementary in Charlotte, NC. She would call me "quiet thunder" and we would laugh  uncontrollably. I will never forget the support she gave me when my husband passed. With her love, guidance, and caring spirit I was able to make it through that year of teaching.  I will always have fond memories of LaForest.

Laforest was a mentor and a friend. She was a special person and will be remembered as an outstanding educator. She will be missed.  



LaForest was a beautiful, intelligent Educator and a friend. I lived next door to her best friend, Sarah Foxx for years and we shared many precious memories. May she rest in God's arms.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal. Condolences to family, friends and others. Love and Blessings.

Laforest was my principal and my church member. She was a very kind person. She called me “chicken little”. When she called me, she would ask, “ what are you doing chicken little?” I will surely miss her.
