

Marvin Lee Davis, Jr., age 80, passed away peacefully Friday, August 22, 2025 at home with his wife by his side. He was born August 29, 1944 in Harnett County to the late Marvin Lee Davis and Gladys Turlington Davis.
Marvin graduated from Elm City High School and Atlantic Christian College and was an Army Veteran serving from 1965 to 1967. He was a pharmacy/medic in Vietnam. He was also Mayor of his hometown Elm City, NC. Marvin achieved Life Scout and was on his way to becoming Eagle Scout when troop 332 disbanded. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Elm City and was the owner of Simflex Computers in Wilson. Marvin was a kind and gentle man, a strong and hardworking man with a heart of gold. He and his wife, Gail, and beagle Maggie, shared many fond memories including time spent in Manteo on their boat, Slow Dance. Marvin loved his family and friends, and his faithful companion Buddycat.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 27 years, Gail Thompson Davis, his brother Warren Davis, sister Wanda Davis Winstead and husband Michael (Mick), sister Susie Davis, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the people who helped in any way during Marvin's illness.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 2 PM in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 PM to 1:45 PM in Thomas – Yelverton Funeral Home prior to the graveside service. Memorial donations may be made in Marvin's memory to a charity of ones choice.
