William Alsey “Billy” Boone Jr., 86, of Homosassa, FL passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home, 2704 Nash St. N, Wilson, NC. Interment will be private in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson, NC.
Billy’s career included working in the Accounting department of Hackney Brothers Body Company, serving as both Deputy Clerk and Clerk of the Wilson County Superior Court, and Wilson City Directory sales. He loved music and played in a band in the 1960’s, where they recorded several records. Billy loved the New York Yankees and cooking ribs, steaks, rotisserie chicken and rib roasts for his family. Most of all, Billy loved God and always put his family first. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Jane Boone; one son, Sonny Boone; one daughter, Deby Wood; two granddaughters, Brianne Morris and Lydia Taylor; nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Adolphine deKeyzer Boone, and one granddaughter, Tiffany Morris.
The Boone family requests that everyone attending Billy’s service wear a facemask and practice social distancing.
