Mrs. McDonald was a native of Statham. In her younger years, she was the All State guard in basketball for the Statham Wildcats.She attended the Winder First Baptist Church until she moved her membership to Living Water Baptist Church in Oglethorpe County. Bea was a woman of great faith.
She was a dedicated military spouse, following her husband's service to the United States as they moved around the world. Bea was also an avid gardener and loved growing roses.
Mrs. McDonald is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Junior McDonald; son, Louie McDonald; parents, Lewis Harrison Savage and Roselee Wheeler Savage; brothers, Ralph, Dorsey, Gaston, andMilton, Savage; sisters, Reece McCarty, Margie Taylor, Wilmont Savage, and Dot Ferguson.
Mrs. McDonald is survived by her son and daughter in-laws; Tim and Hilda McDonald of Colbert, formerly of Winder, and Diane McDonald of Madison, MS; five grandchildren, Tara Johnson and Angela Ikard both of Houston, TX, Haley Rogers of Molena, Dustin McDonald of Statesboro and Charlie McDonald of Franklin, TN; nine great-grandchildren, Avery and Charlotte Rogers, Lincoln and Olivia McDonald, Huxley and Luka Johnson, Bill, Lewis, and Jack Ikard. She is also survived by her brother/nephew, Junior Savage of Statham, and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family also survives.
A graveside service to honor the life of Mrs. Bea Savage McDonald will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at Barrow Memorial Gardens with Revs. Tim McDonald and Derek Paul officiating. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. prior to the graveside service at Smith Funeral Home.
The family has respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Mrs. McDonald to the Living Water Baptist Church or the Living Water Mission Fellowship at 734 Yancey Road Arnoldsville, GA 30619.
