A native of Jacksonville, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Styles Sylvester Timms and Frenza Waters Timms. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Roy Tims.
Mr. Timms was best defined as a unique individual in which he had a strong love for Harley Davidson Motorcycles, guns, and ammunition. He served the United States faithfully in the Army during the Vietnam war. Mr. Timms retired from the United States Postal Service with 32 years of service as a letter carrier. He spent his retirement years visiting various flea markets in the southeast. Jerry was a man that loved his family and was also a member of the Auburn Baptist Church.
Mr. Timms is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Lula Grace Timms, of Commerce; daughter, Dr. Jeriann (Monty) Parks of Auburn; and grandchild, Trent Parks of Auburn.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the stateroom of Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atl. Hwy SE Winder, GA 30680. The family will be conducting a brief private service following the visitation.
