
Joni Perry Odum, age 55, of Bethlehem, GA, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson. Joni graduated from Jefferson High School in 1976. During her life, she spent time working as a co-owner of Ideal Dress Shop in Jefferson. At the time of her passing she worked as a paraprofessional at Bethlehem Elementary and part-time as a sales associate at the Mall of Georgia Ann Taylor store. Joni was preceded in death by her parents, Don Perry, Sr. and Shirley Humphries Perry; her father-in-law, Jim Odum; and a nephew, Will Wages. Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Odum of Bethlehem; her daughter, Madison Nicole Odum of Bethlehem; two brothers, Don Perry, Jr. (Janice) of Athens, GA and Charles (Dawn) Perry of Jefferson; a sister, Nancy (David) McEver of Talmo, GA; her mother-in-law, Jane Odum; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Susan and Don Wages and Pat and Greg Lanthier; nephews, Jackson Perry and Trapper Lanthier; nieces, Meredith McEver, Sandi (Mark) Johnson, Jordan Perry, Cara Sanders, Meridith Wages, and Sally Lanthier; and one great-niece, Mackenzie Johnson. The family will receive friends from 4-8:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, on Thursday, September 5, 2013. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at Bethlehem First United Methodist Church on Friday, September 6, 2013 with Reverend Parker Benson and Reverend Cary Hillard officiating. The burial will follow the service at Barrow Memorial Gardens, Winder. A college fund has been set up for Madison. Contributions may be made to MN Odum College Fund at 123 Sunningdale Drive, Winder, GA, 30680 in lieu of flowers. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
