Larry Lamar Ivey, age 73, of Athens, GA passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024. He was born in Athens to the late Lamar Ivey and Mary Ann Saunders Payne. Larry loved jewelry, cars, dancing, collecting hats, and everything Elvis. His family says he was just an all-around happy person.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother, Marty Sorrough, and half-sister, Sandra Smith. Larry is survived by his aunts: Marie Sauls of Winder, GA, Beggie Coe of Pensacola, FL, and Mary James of Griffin, GA; uncle, Harris Ivey of Winder, GA; special friend and caregiver Mr. Allen from True Comfort Care Home; and many cousins.
A Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The Funeral Service will follow in Smith Memory Chapel at 1:00 pm. He will be buried at Gwinnett Memorial Park on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
