

Maria Elvira Hostios, 81 of Winder, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026. She was a native of Bogota’, Colombia. Elvira was a devout Catholic and had been attending Bethlehem Church with her family. She was a selfless soul who spent her lifetime being a loving homemaker for her family, whom she loved dearly. She also loved watching TV, playing with her cat, taking walks, bowling and always spending time with her family.
Elvira was preceded in death by her parents, Nicolas and Alicia Torres; her loving husband of 45 years, Miguel Hostios; and her 6 siblings: Olga, Alvaro, Lucia, Enrique, Humberto, and Gloria. She is survived by her children, Claudia Guerrios (Joel) of Bethlehem, Sandra Mainor (Charlie) of Winder, and Miguel Hostios (Ashley) of Winder; grandchildren: P.J. Klein, Andrew Klein, Vanessa Gibson, Brandon Camacho, Ryan Hostios, River Hostios, Amanda Mainor, Blake Mainor, and Drew Mainor; and great-grandchildren: Landon Workman, Patrick Klein III, and Baylor Klein.
A celebration of Elvira’s life will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 2PM in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Shane Crowe officiating. The family will receive friends from 1PM until service hour.
Donations in Elvira’s memory may be made to the Barrow County Humane Society.
