So sorry to hear of Ms. Sims passing. Loved her and her family. Thoughts and prayers for all. She suffered many tragedies but her faith never failed and her strength was amazing. What a reunion in heaven that must have been. She will be missed here on earth. No one will ever match her chocolate cakes.

So sorry to hear of Aunt Marion's passing. Dot, Brenda, and Glenda, I wish I could have been there with you. I'm sure that you take comfort from the Lord and in knowing that she lived a full, satisfying life. My condolences to the entire family.
One of my most vivid memories was in 1955 when my family and Uncle Otis's family went to Georgia to visit Aunt Marion and Uncle Sims and to escape approaching Hurricane Connie. Hurricane Hazel had struck us with 135 MPH winds in 1954. My daddy and Uncle Otis were terrified of wind. Uncle Otis told my daddy, "Vermon, let's go to Georgie"! That's the way he pronounced it. Aunt Marion and Uncle Sims graciously took in all 10 of us and provided food and lodging. As all who knew her knows, Aunt Marion was a fabulous cook. I loved to eat, so we were a perfect match! She also was a very practical, straightforward woman. She will be missed by all who knew her.

By the way, we arrived back home on a Saturday and, as we were eating supper and listening to the radio, the announcer reported that Hurricane Diane was expected to hit the North Carolina coast on Monday night!
