Desanka (Desa) Maodus

January 8, 1926 - December 24, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Desa on December 24, 2020 at 94 years of age. Devoted wife of the late Djuro (1992). Loving mother of Milica Vukov (Mark), the late Mirko (2018) (Kim) and Dusan (Pamela). Proud grandmother of Alexandra Manoli (Arthur), Niko Vukov (Sarah), Dusan (Amanda), Pavle and Nikola. Great granddaughters Alexija and Gabrijela Maodus. From the time of her arrival in Canada in 1952, Desa was a devoted member of Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Church, and later, St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Hamilton. She was also a proud member of both the Chetnik Sisters in Hamilton, where she was honoured as a Kuma, as well as Knjeginja Jelena Sisters in Windsor. Family meant everything to Desa and she loved nothing more than to be surrounded by them. She treasured family gatherings where she could cook for and take care of everyone. She was a loving and loyal friend to all who knew her, with her warm smile, kind words and wonderful sense of humour. Memorial donations may be made to Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Church in Windsor or St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Hamilton.
