Having known Lia for many years I also had the good fortune of meeting and spending time with Lia's mother, Dimitra ( Jenny).   When visiting at the house I found that Jenny was often busy with something-cooking, gardening, working on projects. Still she always took the time to socialize and make you feel welcome. A cup of coffee, a bite to eat, telling stories of her beloved Greece,  she always gave of herself and made the moments special and unique.

After many years. I had the pleasure of visiting with your Mother a few years ago.  Although I wasn't sure if she remembered me, she smiled throughout our visit.   Lia, your love and compassionate care, I'm sure,  contributed to her longevity.  She is in a better place now.  May she rest in peace.

I remember something from long ago, when I visited my sister Alice in Greece and her mother in law lived in the adjoining house; her mother in law was very kind and took an interest in me, a kid from Canada visiting for a short time. I suffered in those days from dermatitis brought on by working in a kitchen. She told me how to make a salve from olive oil and beeswax, which I did. It worked. You could tell she was a loving (and funny) person. tgb

   My mom was my hero. She single-handedly raised 4 children, Nick, George, Alec and Vasilia (Lia), in Canada with limited English skills by operating 4 restaurants with very little help.  She lived in my home with her grandchildren, Mark, Jamie  and Tara and her great-grandchild Connie, and she cooked Greek spanakopita  and Chinese egg rolls for us to enjoy. Her spirit is everywhere, especially in our living room, where she stayed for the last six years of her life after she broke her second hip. Many thanks to the psw's from  Bayshore who took such good care of her:  Jorge, Brenda, Hyunah, Connie , Iffy and the others, and all the relatives who love her.  Always on my mind and in my heart mama mou. See you again sweet mother.

  Dimitra, my grandmother, was part of my daily life. A day doesn't go by without thinking about her. 
  Keeping her memory eternal will be easy. I will love her forever.
  Thank you to all who were able to attend the funeral, to all those who sent well wishes, all those who visited, all those who watched the service online, all those at Anderson, Father, and the cantor. 
 And a final thankyou to all those who attended to her. Without all the PSW's, nurses and respite care workers, we would have struggled even more.
 I hope they let people run restaurants in heaven.

So sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. She lived a long and wonderful life. May God help you and wrap you in His loving arms as she enters Eternal Peace.

Kiria Thimitra and her amazing family are lifelong friends. The Koutsnikolas', the first Greek family my Beloved mother Argyroula & father Kostas  were so lucky to have met in Windsor. We shared hundred of wonderful visits as children,  Christmas parties and New Years dances. Egg rolls made lovingly by Kiria Thimitra, the best I've ever tasted, were always a welcome treat. Visits to her restaurant where we shared stories of Greece and recipes.  We will miss her dearly and our Prayers & Love will remain eternal with the family.
