
Dora Lillie passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at the age of 95 in Windsor, ON. Born on November 22, 1929, in Drumheller, AB, she lived a life marked by laughter, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her community.
Dora was the daughter of William and Fanny Russell, both of whom predeceased her, and grew up alongside her brother William and sister Bessie Gibson. She was a loving wife to her late husband, James Charles with whom she shared a lifetime of memories.
Dora is survived by her children and was a beloved aunt and great-aunt to many nephews and nieces, who found in her a source of unwavering support and boundless affection.
Dora often expressed her deep appreciation for Jennifer and Theresa, who provided her with care and assistance in her senior years. Their dedication allowed her to enjoy her later life with dignity and comfort.
Throughout her life, Dora was known for her friendly nature. Her sense of humour was infectious. Her creative spirit was evident in everything she did. A devoted member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 255, Dora dedicated herself to supporting veterans and their families.
Dora was former President of the Ladies Auxiliary and took immense pride in volunteering for annual Poppy Day fundraisers, organizing Seniors Games, and participating in the weekly Dart Leagues. Her contributions were not just acts of service but an extension of her heartfelt gratitude to those who served their country.
Dora has been cremated in a private service. She asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Royal Canadian Legion charitable initiatives.
