This October 10th they would have celebrated 52 years of marriage. Gene is predeceased by his parents, Jeanette and Lucien Lefebvre and his in-laws, Scotty and Mary Pattison. He is survived by his younger brother Maurice of Kapuskasing.
Gene was a dynamic educator and taught most of his career for the Windsor Essex County Catholic School Board, both in the elementary and secondary school panels. He was very active in promoting the French Alive Program and enjoyed many trips with students to complement this program. He also encouraged adult students with his teams of teachers teaching relaxation, meditation and therapeutic touch.
In his retirement, Gene was a driver for Hospice, a member of Theatre Alive and a prolific painter. His paintings adorned the homes of his friends and his room at Shoreview Retirement Home to the praise of many friends, workers and residents. Shoreview at Riverside’s staff, nurses, PSW workers and cooks all worked together to make Gene’s stay there happy and pleasant. Qualicare and St. Elizabeth Health Care assisted also in his care. Their warm connection to Gene was evident. Val’s undying appreciation is extended to all of them.
Many friends left behind, will remember his giant sense of humour and his innate generosity. Young people now grown will remember a giving adult who made life easier because he was a part of it.
As per Gene’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will take place at Our Lady of the Atonement Church (2940 Forest Glade Dr. Windsor) on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass at 12:00 p.m.
