George Hermann

23 November, 193222 May, 2020

Lived peacefully and gracefully, and passed away the same on May 22, 2020 at the age of 87. Beloved "Second In Command" to Susan for 66 years. Dear father of Dianne (Reinhold) of Sterling Heights, MI, and Gary (Christine) of Strathroy, ON. Fun and heartwarming grandfather and advice-giver to Christopher, Mark, Jennifer and Michelle, and great-grandfather of Eleanor, Victoria, Vivienne, Christian, Iris and Amelia. He didn't care much for money, position, title, or influence. He cared to be close to those he loved, and who loved him. He cared that you and yours were healthy. Around him you couldn't help but smile and be happy, and those who were felt fortunate to be. A private family service has taken place at Walter D. Kelly Life Celebration Centre (519-252-5711). Memorial donations in memory of George may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

We're so sorry to hear of George's passing. He was such a kind and friendly neighbour who always had a smile and kind word for everyone. We would always know when George was passing by on his bicycle or walking. O'Malley would see him, give excited high pitched barks, and we instantly knew he had been spotted. He would then get off his bike, give O'Malley treats and lots of loving pats, and then continue on his way. George was definitely O'Malley's FAVOURITE person!!! In fact, we couldn't even say "George" in the house because he would know and go crazy.
We will all miss you George. Susan and family, may many wonderful memories bring you peace and comfort always.

Our deepest sympathies to the entire family. George and Susan were frequent visitors to the cottage and our conversations were always pleasant and easy going. George was a good man with a loving family that will remember him always. He was part of a larger family of Saxons and church members where he will be truly missed. Rest in Peace!

I was so sad to first hear that Mr Hermann had taken ill and then of his passing. I last visited with George and Susan at their home in January . They always made me feel welcomed. Mr Hermann was his usual kindhearted, happy self always ready for conversation. His prized garden had a layer of snow so, no tour and no bag of fruits and vegetables for me to take home this time. I hope it comforts you to know that your grief is shared by all of us who knew him. He was a wonderful man and he will be sorely missed.

Dear Susan and family,
I was very saddened to hear of George's passing. Like my sister,
I have such fond memories of the two of you in your yard, sitting peacefully and sending a wave whenever you would see us.
I also remember his beautiful garden.
You both were wonderful neighbours to our parents and made the neighbourhood special because of your kindness.
Our deepest condolences to you all,
Gina, Tony, Joseph & Angelina Veltri

Sorry to hear of your fathers passing. I didnt know him much but i read that he was a good man who loved his family very much and that was most important to him. I'm sure you are a very proud daughter. So when you reminisce about him know that when you smile it will wipe away those tears. So to you, Reinhold, and your Mom, know that Claude and I are thinking of you at this time.

Our whole family is heart broken. It saddens us deeply that we can't be there to hug you all, and be there to say goodbye. We've been like family forever. He was like a second Dad. He will be missed so much. He was truly loved. The world was a better place because of him.

You were the best grandpa a girl could have ever asked for. So much love to give, so many amazing memories that I will cherish forever. You made me into the woman I am today and I know you will be looking down on us always shining. You were my best friend. Thank you for being you. You taught me so much and I love you and miss you terribly. Until we meet again I love and miss you more than words can express. Xoxoxox ♥️♥️🌺
