Gates, Gerald Douglas passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 19, 2016 at 93 years of age. Beloved son of the late Stella and Philip Gates. Son-in-law to the late Matilda and Ray Talbot. Reunited with his loving wife of 55 years Rosemay (1999). Dear father of Jerry (Gail) and the late Susan (Bill Wilson) 1997. Cherished and dearly missed by 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Jerry is predeceased by his brothers Vern and Harold, his brother-in-law Elmer and by his sisters-in-law Doreen and Evelyn.
Jerry was a dedicated employee until time of retirement at Champion Spark Plug and Corp Commissionaires.
The family would like to express their gratitude and sincere thanks to all the staff at the Extendicare Southwood Lakes nursing home for all the support and assistance they extended to our family.
Visiting will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Walter D. Kelly Life Celebration Centre (1969 Wyandotte St. E. Windsor). Visiting will resume the following day; Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10:00am until time of service at 11:00 am.
Memorial donations in Jerry’s name can be made to the Windsor and Essex County Humane Society and the Canadian Cancer Society.
