I only belatedly learned of Mr. Lacoursiere's passing. As a 1970s music journalist, I so admired how he transformed A&M Canada into a world-class entity. I can't think of another Canadian subsidiary that broke two major global hits by foreign artists (Miguel Rios and Procol Harum).

As a British Columbian, I'm forever grateful that Gerry had the ears and patience to help West Coast acts such as Bryan Adams, Chilliwack, Valdy, The Hometown Band and The Payolas to develop into fully developed artists.

In addition to talent-signing acumen, Gerry Lacoursiere also had the managerial brilliance to assemble arguably the finest teams of promotion and marketing representatives. One of those long-ago reps (whom I've lost touch with) was Liam Mullen. Once, while playing me a new Cat Stevens album, Liam said of his boss: Gerry always sees the big picture.

Hi Gae and all the family, Drew and I are very sad about your loss.  The last time we met at MSH reminded us of what good times we had playing bridge and laughing a lot.
