Helen Grace Dorrepaal

Helen, 89, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on February 4, 2016. At the time of her passing, she was a resident at Extendicare Tecumseh and a member of Grace Baptist Church. Helen was born in Windsor, Ontario on August 29, 1926. In 1947, she married John Dorrepaal and began a wonderful life with her beloved husband which lasted almost 60 years. During these years she raised four children, served faithfully in the choir, Sunday School and as Treasurer at Ambassador Baptist Church, and lived her life modeling the Proverbs 31 woman. Helen was preceded in death by her husband John William, her parents, Pearl and George Hughes, and her brother, Harford Hughes. She is survived by her brother Ray Hughes (Connie), her sister Marilyn Macdonald, and her sister-in-law Elaine Hughes. She was a loving mother to her children, Mark (Jo Ann), Brian (Ann), Heather Ostropolec (Leo), and Anne Decker (Dieter). She will be missed by her grandchildren, Andrew (Katie), Anne (Robert), Steve (Robin), Christine, Geoff, Cait (Matt), Brad (Lisa), Chris (Anu), and Heather (Eliot), as well as her 9 great grandchildren. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caring staff at Extendicare Tecumseh. The family will receive friends at the Walter D. Kelly Life Celebration Centre, 1969 Wyandotte St. E. (519) 252-5711, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Friday, and 10am Saturday at Grace Baptist Church, 3150 Tecumseh Rd. E. A memorial service celebrating Helen's life will follow at 11am Saturday, February 13. Memorial donations to Windsor Baptist Refugee Ministry (Matthew House) would be appreciated by the family.
