Ilene Alma Russell

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 in her 99th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Eugene (1981) and by her parents Lydia and Earl Levi. Treasured mother of Jack and Mary. She was greatly adored as Nana to her grandchildren; Paul (Giota), Andrew (Jennifer), John and Ryan (Alyssa) and great grandmother of Ava, Lucy, Jake, McKenna, Caili, Adalynn, Blake and Luke. Survived by her two sisters; Ethel Grant (Late Clayton), Betty (Al Hajnal) and predeceased by her sisters and brother; Dora Greaves, Ada Baker, Donna Hudacek, infant Jean and Jack Levi. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Amica for their outstanding care and compassion they showed Ilene, treating her as one of their own.

Ilene was devoted to providing love and support to her family and friends and ensuring their happiness and care. She will also be remembered for her love of games - spending many hours of fun and laughter playing cribbage or euchre and passing on her competitive gene to multiple generations. She also loved watching hockey (both the Maple Leafs and her grandsons' games.

If desired, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Sick Kids Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Visiting will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 11:00am- 12:00pm at the Walter D Kelly Life Celebration Centre followed by a private family graveside service. Following the internment the family invites family and friends to Beach Grove Golf and Country Club (14134 Riverside Dr E, Windsor) to continue the celebration of Ilene’s life at 2:00pm.
