Jo Anne Sabourin, a beacon of selfless love and infectious humor, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, in Windsor, Ontario, at the age of 70. Born on August 10, 1954, in Sudbury, Ontario, Jo Anne's vibrant spirit and loving nature were evident from an early age.
Jo Anne's professional life was marked by over two decades of dedicated service at the University of Windsor, where she not only excelled in her role but also formed lasting friendships and became a beloved member of the university community. Her commitment to her work was paralleled only by her involvement in various associations, where she contributed with the same passion and enthusiasm that she brought to every aspect of her life.
Away from her professional endeavors, Jo Anne's heart truly belonged to her family and her cherished interests. Her children, Christina and Patricia, were the center of her world, and she took immense joy in the lives of her grandchildren, Lilly, Toby, and Sonny. Jo Anne's love for her family was a constant, unwavering force, and the memories they created together will be treasured forever.
Jo Anne's love extended to her brother, Robert, who survives her. She was predeceased by her brothers Raymond and Roger, her sister Eileen, and her mother Irene, but the legacy of love and laughter she inherited from her family will continue to live on through her children and grandchildren.
An avid gardener, Jo Anne found solace and joy in the tranquility of her garden, nurturing her plants with the same care and attention she gave to her relationships.
Perhaps one of Jo Anne's most treasured pastimes was spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. Each moment spent with them was filled with love, laughter, and the creation of precious memories that will be cherished by her grandchildren as they continue to grow.
Jo Anne's sense of humor was legendary, and her ability to find the funny side of any situation was a gift that she shared generously with everyone around her. Her laughter was contagious, and she was often the life of the party, especially when in the company of her dear friends, affectionately known as the "Three Amigos." Together, they shared countless adventures and moments of pure joy that will be fondly remembered by all who were lucky enough to be part of their circle.
To describe Jo Anne as loving is to capture the essence of her being. Her love was a guiding light for her family, a source of comfort for her friends, and an inspiration to all who knew her. Selfless in every sense of the word, Jo Anne's life was a testament to the power of putting others before oneself, and her legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to resonate with those she touched.
Jo Anne Sabourin's life was one of extraordinary warmth and boundless love. She lived fully, laughed freely, and loved deeply. Her absence will be profoundly felt by all who were blessed to know her, but the beauty of her spirit will forever illuminate the lives of her loved ones.
