

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the age of 86. Loving wife and best friend to the late Michael (Milos- 1998). Born January 7, 1930 in Belgrade Serbia to parents George Stojkovic (1975) and Darinka (1963). Devoted, loving mother and Baba of Dr. Michael Saruna & his children Michael, Zachary and Troy; George & wife Ann and their children Andrew, Daniella and Jamie; Richard & wife Patti and children Paris and Ricky. Julia was a prolific reader and lifelong student. She was a teacher in Serbia, taught home economics at Essex High School, was a successful realtor (P.S. Jeffrey) and at the age of fifty, continued her studies to become a registered nurse (IODE Hospital). In her spare time Julia enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling and singing. Julia was a member of the Serbian Orthodox Church Gracanica for over 50 years, Circle of Serbian Sisters “Knjeginja Jelena”, Heritage Women's Society of Gracanica, Senior Citizen Group of Gracanica, and a member of the Gracanica Choir. Her selfless devotion to her family, her many talents and love of life will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Our family wishes to thank all the devoted doctors, nurses and PSW's for all their help as well as all of our family, friends and neighbors. Visitation will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 895 Ouellette Avenue, (519)254-3223 on Wednesday from 4-9 p.m., with Prayers at 7:30 pm officiated by the Very Rev. Fr. Miroljub Todorovic. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 10:00 am from Anderson Memorial Chapel. Interment Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Donations made to the family for orphaned children in Serbia would be greatly appreciated.
