It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Lazo Dragicevic, surrounded by his loving family, on July 4, 2025 at the age of 71 years. Born in Turic - Knin, Srpska Krajina, July 30, 1953. Waiting to greet him in Heaven is his son Nikola Dragicevic (2013), along with parents Petar (1973) and Milica (2016) Dragicevic, his Stric Lazar (1992) and Strina Andja (2020) Dragicevic, and brother in law Miso Dobric (1994). Lazo leaves behind the one who was his everything, his wife Milica Dragicevic. A guiding light and best father to his two daughters Natasa (Petar) Chuk and Milena (Goran) Jovanovic - their unwavering protector, biggest cheerleader, and the heart of their home. Beloved brother of Sava and wife Anica Dragicevic, Mara and husband Milan (2019) Cetnik, Djuro Dragicevic and brother in law (Ortak) Spiro and Jovanka Dobric. Deda Lazo is now watching over his greatest pride and joy, his 4 grandchildren – Ivana, Matija, Mila and Petar from up above. He will be greatly missed by all of his family, kumovi and friends in Windsor, Oakville, United States, Serbia and Srpska Krajina.
Lazo came to Canada in 1971 under the guidance and sponsorship of his Stric Lazar Dragicevic. Life wasn’t easy coming to live in a new country 7,501 km from home with just a suitcase. Lazo adapted like many before his time, and quickly became part of the Serbian Community in Windsor and member of the Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Church. From starting his own cement business to retiring from Chrysler Canada after 35+ years of service, Lazo never shied away from hard work. Lazo met his wife Milica in June 1978 and they were married November 25, 1978. Lazo and Milica spent 46 years creating a beautiful life together.
Deda Lazo loved spending time with his grandchildren. They would spend hours and hours outside together - whether they were watering his beautiful gardens, or cutting the grass on his tractor - there was never a dull moment with Deda. His quick wit and sense of humour made his grandchildren adore him. He taught them the value of hard work, family values, and most importantly our Serbian culture. They will forever strive to make him proud.
