Holocaust Survivor and oldest daughter of deceased parents, Dovid and Basha Rozwaski; sister to Rabbi Chaim Rozwaski, Miriam Biegun and infant brother Yechiel (all deceased). Predeceased by her beloved husband Kalman (2015).
Devoted mother of Beverly Arvisais (Terry 2024) and Mel Monczak. Loving Bubbie to Matt (Shawna), Rachelle, Kyle (Sarah), Michael, and Jenna (Cole). Bubbie-Tov to Jayden, Noah, Cole and Ellie.
Reva and her brother arrived in Canada through Pier 21 in 1948 and settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Learning a new language, making new Jewish friends and having a job helped her to begin a life after the Holocaust. She met, dated and after an incident that involved a snowball, married Kalman. Since that December 30, 1950 evening, they were inseparable.
Petite in stature, with a heart of gold, she was a lady of conviction and great strength. Her observances of Jewish life were steadfast and she was the glue of the family.
Reva led a life of simplicity and practicality. Her love of family - endless. She was an encyclopedia of knowledge and a link to her extended family's past and present. Her memory of names, dates, places and events were beyond impeccable. Thinking of Reva will automatically remind you of a story she passed along in her special, detailed way.
Home was important. The kitchen was always "cooking." The aromas filled the home with love and tons of food.
For a few years, Reva had immense pleasure working at the downtown Cole's book store. She loved her position and embraced as many books as she could. Reading was her passion.
A self-taught seamstress, Reva also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and completing petit-point projects that brought her joy. Together with Kalman, she enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She was a social person with a desire to to learn more about those around her.
Since 1960, the Monczak family made Windsor their home.
